Terms of Service
The rules for using SkillCity: who can play, your account, game rewards, jobs and scholarship listings, community rules and what we're responsible for. Written in plain language.
1. Who we are and this agreement
SkillCity is a 3D learning and career game run by CodeDevPay, a business based in Ghana ("we", "us"). These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and CodeDevPay. They apply whenever you use SkillCity, whether or not you create an account.
By playing, creating an account or using any part of SkillCity, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use SkillCity.
2. Who can use SkillCity
You must be at least 13 years old to use SkillCity. If you are under 18, you may only use SkillCity with the permission of a parent or guardian, who also agrees to these Terms for you.
Employers, companies and event hosts must be at least 18 and must have the authority to act for the organisation they represent.
3. Your account
You can play without an account; your progress is then saved only in your browser. An account saves your progress online and unlocks chat, events, companies and other shared features.
- Give a real email address and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- One account per person. Don't share, sell or transfer your account.
- Choose a player name that doesn't impersonate anyone and isn't offensive. We may change names that break these Terms.
- Tell us at nyamekye@codedevpay.com if you think someone else has used your account.
4. XP, coins, badges and other game items
XP, coins, levels, badges, items and other rewards in SkillCity are part of the game. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money or real goods, and can't be sold or transferred.
We may adjust, reset or remove game rewards to fix mistakes, bugs or cheating, or when we change the game.
5. Learning, the Skill Passport and careers
Simulations, labs, lessons and missions in SkillCity are practice environments. They are not real networks, real company systems or real client work unless we clearly say so.
Badges, Skill Passport entries and completion records show what you achieved in SkillCity. They are not accredited degrees or professional certificates unless a partner clearly states otherwise.
We don't promise that using SkillCity will get you a job, internship, scholarship, admission or any other result.
6. Jobs, internships, scholarships and other listings
SkillCity shows opportunities from other sources, such as public job boards, scholarship and internship websites and official programme pages, and jobs posted by companies in the game. We show these to help you find them; we don't run those programmes and we don't guarantee that a listing is accurate, current or still open.
- Always check details, deadlines and eligibility on the official website before you apply.
- Never pay anyone an application, processing or "guarantee" fee. Real scholarships and employers don't ask for these. Report anything suspicious to us.
- Any hiring, internship or scholarship decision is between you and the organisation. We are not part of that agreement.
- Companies that post jobs or tasks are responsible for their posts and must follow the law, including employment and anti-discrimination laws.
- A "verified" mark on a company or host means our team checked it manually. It is not a guarantee about that organisation.
7. Community rules
SkillCity has shared spaces: city and match chat, voice chat and voice notes, events, companies, billboards, broadcasts, the cinema, club, sports centre, church and mosque. To keep them safe, you must not:
- harass, bully, threaten or insult anyone, or post hate speech about anyone's religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability or any other characteristic;
- post sexual content, or any content that sexualises or endangers children;
- scam, phish, spam, advertise without permission, or ask players for money, passwords or personal details;
- share other people's private information;
- post or link to pirated content, including unlicensed sports streams, films or music;
- post illegal content or encourage violence or self-harm;
- impersonate another person, company, religious leader or SkillCity staff;
- disrespect the church, mosque or any faith community;
- record other players in voice chat, or share their voice notes outside SkillCity, without their permission.
We may remove content, mute or suspend accounts, and remove companies or events that break these rules. Serious cases may be reported to the authorities.
8. Content you add
You keep ownership of what you post: chat messages, events, company pages, job posts, billboards, broadcasts, uploads and links.
You give CodeDevPay a free, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, display and share that content inside SkillCity, only to run and promote the service. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies already shared with others or kept in backups for a short time.
You confirm you have the right to post what you add. For example, YouTube links you add to a venue must be official or properly licensed, and audio you upload to a faith library must be yours or used with permission.
9. Tech Market
Players can open stalls in the Tech Market to sell their own tech items and services. For ordinary stalls, CodeDevPay provides the stall only: we don't own, check, hold or deliver items, we don't handle the payment, and we are not part of the sale. The buyer and the seller are responsible for their deal.
Verified CodeDevPay sellers are businesses and individuals we have checked. Their stalls show a "✔ CodeDevPay" badge. On each stall the seller chooses how buyers pay: by contacting the seller and paying them directly, or online through CodeDevPay (Add to cart and Buy now). A verified badge means we checked who the seller is; it isn't a guarantee of every item.
- Paying through CodeDevPay (Buy now or a cart with several items): you pay CodeDevPay by card. We hold the payment and only pay the seller after you confirm you received the item, or 7 days after the seller marks it sent if you haven't reported a problem.
- If a seller doesn't send or hand over an item within 7 days of your payment, cancels the order, or the item sold out while you were paying, you get that item's price back to the card you paid with. Other items in the same payment go ahead as normal.
- Need help with any item or order, including items you paid the seller for directly? Tap "Need help? Ask CodeDevPay" to open a support ticket. Our team replies in the ticket, may add the seller to it, and can approve refunds for Buy now orders.
- If the item doesn't arrive, isn't what was described, or is faulty, tap Report a problem before the 7 days after it was sent are up. We'll contact you and the seller and decide whether to refund you or pay the seller. Delivery costs agreed directly with the seller are between you and the seller.
- Verified sellers agree that CodeDevPay keeps a service fee from each Buy now sale (currently 10%, shown in the Tech Market before you apply) and sends them the rest by Mobile Money or bank. They are responsible for their items, delivery, warranties and any tax on their sales. We may hold a payout while we look into a complaint, and we may suspend sellers who break these rules.
- Sellers must be 18 or older, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, and must own what they sell.
- Only sell legal items. No stolen, fake or counterfeit goods, no weapons, drugs, alcohol or tobacco, no hacked accounts, cracked software, SIM-swap or "unlocking" fraud services, and nothing else the law forbids.
- Describe items honestly, with the real price in Ghana cedis and any faults.
- Your contact details are shown to everyone who opens your stall. Only add details you're happy to share.
- Buying from an ordinary stall: meet in a busy public place, check the item before paying, and never pay in advance or share codes or passwords. Only pay in advance through Buy now on verified CodeDevPay stalls.
- Stalls close after 30 days. We may remove any stall, and suspend sellers, that break these rules. Use "Report this stall" to tell us about a problem.
10. City Hall, elections and the Governor
City Hall runs the Road to Governor mission and a monthly election in the game. "Governor", "Mayor" and the other ranks are game titles only. They have no real-world meaning, give no power over other players or their accounts, and come with no money or prizes outside the game.
- One account, one vote. Don't create extra accounts, trade or buy votes, or offer anything for votes. We may cancel votes, candidacies or results that break these rules.
- Campaign respectfully: no hate, harassment, false claims about other players, or real-world political campaigning.
- The Governor's announcements must follow the community rules. We may remove announcements and remove a Governor who misuses the title.
- Candidates' names, slogans and manifestos, vote totals and announcements are public. Who you voted for is private.
- To stand you need level 12, 300 verified XP and an account at least 3 days old. To vote you need level 2, 30 verified XP and an account at least a day old.
11. Payments
Some things in SkillCity cost money: Talent Pro for employers (30 days), featuring a Tech Market stall (7 days), paid mentor sessions and Buy now items from verified CodeDevPay sellers (see section 9). Prices are shown in Ghana cedis before you pay. Everything else in the game is free.
- Payments are processed by Stripe (cards and wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay). We never see or store your card details. Prices are shown in Ghana cedis; Stripe may charge the equivalent in US dollars, and your bank may add a currency-conversion fee.
- Talent Pro and stall boosts start as soon as the payment is confirmed and last for the time shown. They aren't refundable once active, except where the law says otherwise or if they didn't work because of our fault.
- Paid mentor sessions: if the mentor cancels, or you cancel before the session starts, you get a full refund to the account you paid with. SkillCity keeps a service fee (currently 15%) from each paid session and sends the rest to the mentor.
- Mentors are responsible for any tax on what they earn. We may hold a payout while we look into a complaint.
- If something you paid for didn't work, email nyamekye@codedevpay.com with your payment reference (it starts with SC-).
- Game currency (coins) and XP can't be bought, sold or exchanged for money.
12. Sports, radio, videos and partner companies
Live scores, fixtures, sports data, radio stations, YouTube videos, Spotify charts, course listings and partner information come from other companies. They are provided as they are, may be delayed or wrong, and may stop working.
Match predictions and "who scores next" are free games for XP only. No money is involved, and nothing in SkillCity is betting advice.
Partner buildings, such as FlowPard HQ, and links to other websites are run by those companies under their own terms and privacy policies.
City Library: news headlines and short summaries come from the publishers' public news feeds and link to the full story on their sites; the stories belong to those publishers. Books and e-books link to free, legal sources (such as OpenStax, Project Gutenberg, Open Library and university sites) under those sites' own terms. Posts from X appear only if you choose to load them, through X's official embed.
13. Fair play and security
- Don't hack, attack, overload or try to break into SkillCity, other players' accounts or our providers.
- Don't use bots, scripts or modified clients to farm rewards, scrape data or automate play.
- Don't exploit bugs. If you find one, tell us at nyamekye@codedevpay.com.
- Mentors are approved by SkillCity but are volunteers, not our staff. Mentors must be respectful, keep sessions appropriate for all ages, never ask for money, personal documents or private contact, and must not record sessions without everyone's agreement. Report problems to nyamekye@codedevpay.com. We may remove mentors who break these rules.
- Employers using Talent Search must represent a real, verified company, send only genuine opportunities, never ask players for money, and never contact players outside SkillCity without their agreement. We may remove a company's verification for misuse. Players: SkillCity doesn't check every invite, so stay safe: never pay to get a job.
- Project Hub: submit your own work (or work you have the right to share). Don't copy others' work, post personal data about real people, or give unfair peer reviews. Finished projects are public as portfolios, and the client briefs are fictional practice scenarios, not real jobs.
- Game Centre and Arcade: play your own games. Don't use extra accounts, arrange results, or let someone else play for you to win Arena points. Arena points, XP and coins have no cash value. We may remove points and results won unfairly.
- Don't copy or resell SkillCity's code, artwork or content.
14. Our content
SkillCity, CodeDevPay, our logos, the 3D city, lessons, simulations, artwork, music and code belong to CodeDevPay or our licensors. You may use them only to play SkillCity. Other names and logos belong to their owners.
15. Changes to the game
SkillCity is growing and some parts are early versions. We may add, change, pause or remove features, buildings or content at any time. We try to keep the service running but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
16. Disclaimers and limits of liability
SkillCity is provided "as is". To the extent the law of Ghana allows, we don't give warranties that it will meet your needs or be error-free, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost opportunities, or losses caused by other users, third-party listings or third-party services.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law says can't be limited.
17. Ending your use
You can stop using SkillCity at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing nyamekye@codedevpay.com. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put other players at risk. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 8, 12 and 14) continue after your account ends.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the game or by email before they apply. If you keep using SkillCity after a change, you accept the new Terms.
19. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Please contact us first so we can try to fix any problem. If we can't, disputes will be handled by the courts of Ghana, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
